MN High-Speed Rail Commission

January 26, 2017 (Red Wing, Minn.) – Ramsey County Commissioner Janice Rettman will again serve as chair of the Minnesota High-Speed Rail Commission, a post she has held since 2015. She is joined by newly elected Vice Chair Mark Vaughan, a city council member from Hastings.

Janice Rettman has been an elected official since 1986: first as Saint Paul City Councilmember in Ward 5 from January 1986 until April 1997, when she was elected as Ramsey County Commissioner serving District 3.

Mark Vaughan has been a city council member since 2014. He has worked for over 20 years for the city of Eagan in the Parks and Recreation Department, and is currently the Campus Facility Manager. Vaughn has been a volunteer member of the Hastings Parks and Recreation Commission, Hastings Planning Commission and the Hastings Charter Commission.

The Minnesota High-Speed Rail Commission is one of the leading authoritative voices on high-speed rail in Minnesota. Comprised of elected officials from 17 local governments, the commission advocates for the development of Minnesota’s first high-speed rail line within the federally designated high-speed rail corridor that connects the Twin Cities to Milwaukee and Chicago. The commission is a strong proponent of bringing high-speed rail to the Midwest through the scenic upper Mississippi River valley. The commission also advocates for the Twin Cities-Milwaukee-Chicago Second Train, a daily round trip service that would complement Amtrak’s Empire Builder train.
